Deer Tick

Okay, so…not my favorite animal. Deer ticks (also called black-legged ticks) are very small hard-bodied ticks and are very common here in NH. Males are dark brown to black, and females are two-toned: dark brown and orange-brown. Besides being a gross parasite, they are quite dangerous, as they can carry Lyme Disease (and several others diseases as well). I got that one spring, and it’s no joke. It’s weird that one of our most dangerous animals is also one of our smallest.
