Also called garden millipedes, these arthropods are common throughout New Hampshire. They’re relatively small, usually less than an inch long, and orange-brown. Like all NH millipedes, they’re harmless, so they’re safe to pick up and examine. I often see them under rocks and old wood on the edge of the woods as well as between logs in my woodpile.
