These brilliant birds are like the canaries of New England. The males sport a bright yellow coat in the summer and a duller one in winter. (In some of the pictures and videos below, you can see males losing his winter plumage and brightening up for the spring.) The females tend to be more olive-colored all year long. We might have more goldfinches at our feeders than any other bird in terms of sheer volume.
