According to multiple sources I’ve read, it’s nearly impossible to tell the difference between eastern cottontails and New England cottontails. Since easterns are so much more common and more likely to live in backyards, I’m guessing that’s what we have. This is a newcomer to our property. We lived here for more than 20 years before we saw them.
