One Yard in New Hampshire

How many animals can possibly be in one small suburban yard?

We have a surprising number of mammals that frequent our yard.

With woods behind our house and several feeders, we see many birds.

Reptiles are few and far between in our area, and our yard is no excpetion.

As with reptiles, we don’t get too many amphibians. The ones we get are cool.

The more I’ve observed spiders, the more I’ve come to admire them.

Our gardens attract bees, butterflies, dragonflies, and many other insects.

We also have several non-insect bugs in our yard.

Some consider these animals pests, but I’m willing to lose a few leaves here and there.

Worms are the hidden heroes of yards and gardens.

About MIke

I've been fascinated with nature my whole life. As a kid, I spent my summers outside, net or jar in hand, catching bugs, salamanders, snakes, and anything else I could. Now, I love to garden and find ways of attracting wildlife into my yard.
